Traffic delays anticipated during Highway 50 work

Several construction projects this week are expected to affect motorists on area highways.

On Highway 50, eastbound and westbound connectors to northbound and southbound Highway 49 in Placerville will be closed from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night through Sunday for a construction project, Caltrans states. A detour is available.

Closures on Highway 50 also are in place at Canal Street and Bedford Avenue from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night during the work week and from 8 p.m. until 9 a.m. on the weekends. The construction project runs through Sunday and a detour is available, Caltrans states.

In Placer County, one-way traffic controls are in effect at several locations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. this week on Highway 89 from the junction of Highway 28 in Tahoe City to about a half-mile east of the junction. The controls are due to a construction project on the highway, Caltrans states.

One-way traffic controls also will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at several locations from two miles north to 3.8 miles north of the Highway 28 junction in Placer County. The controls are due to permit work. Motorists may experience delays of up to 10 minutes, Caltrans states.
