by A Sad Observer: I wasn't at the scene of the accident, which you correctly named as a scene of crime. I doubt you were. I recognize that two families are involved, however, there are more than two families. A fire was caused by the attempt to flee "crime scene" resulting in more grief to more families. I appreciate that you pay taxes and protect the nation. May God bless you for that, but what does your status have to do with the injury to life and property suffered by the very people you protect?

A strike team of six engines has been dispatched to a wildland fire in the area of Church Mine and Union Mine roads, southeast of the town of El Dorado.

El Dorado County has settled on a new building style for a concrete tilt-up building was deemed superior to conventional wood frame or steel construction for a new animal shelter to serve western El Dorado County.

The El Dorado County Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting at 1 p.m. Monday to review maps for potential use in identifying areas appropriate for oak woodland conservation easements.

Habari Nyumbani! That phrase is Swahili for “How are things at home?” and heads the e-mail sent by El Dorado resident A. J. Crocker from Tanzania. 

Crocker is almost halfway through a four-month assignment with Volunteer Africa at the Hisani and Watoto orphanages in Mwanza, Tanzania.In a February interview featured in the Mountain Democrat 19-year-old Crocker detailed her preparations for her journey and promised to share her experiences with the El Dorado County supporters whose donations made the assignment possible.
