El Dorado County Sheriff responded to a possibly drowning in Folsom Lake. A witness reported that a male subject went swimming near the back of his boat on Folsom lake near the Salmon Falls Bridge. The subject began to have difficulty swimming and held his hands to his head. A female on his boat attempted to rescue the male subject by throwing life preservers to him andreaching a pole to him, but he went underwater.

State Parks Lifeguards arrived in the area along with a Sheriff’s marine unit. Lifeguards swam the area and located the subject under the water. The subject was brought onto the Sheriff’s boat but there were no signs of life.

The male subject has been identified as Owen Nelson Delang, 50 years, resident of San Lorenzo.
