Here’s what a good cook I am. It’s daughter’s birthday. She turned 27 on Tuesday, but since it was a work day and all, today’s the celebration. So I get up early-early, thinking, “cake.” See, I bought this heart-shaped Nordic Ware cake pan – it has flowers and curlicues and stuff embossed in it – a couple of months ago at Placerville Hardware.

From Niesha Lofing: A Gold Hill man is facing arson charges related to a series of seven small fires set in El Dorado County this month. Kenneth Eugene McFarland, 57, left, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of driving under the influence. Oh what a weekend!

We had a quiet weekend. Although Joshua slept most of the time, he still has been recognizing us and communicating. Even managed a couple of witty one-liners as well as made sure to let me know he was none to pleased with me trying to move him. He is for the most part, comfortable except when we do need to move him to change him or re-position him in bed.

What is the course like?: The course opened in 1960. This course is hilly and features many trees which can alter your shots. Water hazards come into play on five holes. The course is green year-round. The signature hole is #10, a 380-yard, par 4, requiring an accurate tee shot past a large pine tree situated in the middle of the fairway. Bert Stamps added nine new holes in 1981.
