It's Not Too Late To Get A Flu ShotThe El Dorado County Public Health Department and City of Placerville are teaming up to “subdue the flu” by offering a free flu shot clinic on Thursday, December 13. The clinic will be held at Town Hall on the second floor, located at 549 Main Street in Placerville from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Individuals with accessibility issues may receive a flu shot on the first floor of the Town Hall facility between the hours of 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.
Both the flu shot and FluMist will be offered at the free flu shot clinic. The flu shot is generally recommended for seniors and high risk individuals, while the FluMist is suggested for healthy people between the ages of 2 and 49. FluMist is a fine mist that is sprayed into the nose. FluMist is not recommended for pregnant women. Both the flu shot and FluMist provide protection against the same three strains of influenza and are equally effective.
Additional flu shot information can be found by calling the Public Health Department’s Flu Hotline at (530) 621-6188 or by calling your private physician.
