The annual Men's March to Stop Rape will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, starting at Placerville Town Hall, 549 Main St. Teams from local businesses, schools, clubs and organizations and individuals and families will march together to make a stand against sexual assault in the community. The annual event, is sponsored by the Center for Violence-free Relationships.

El Dorado County Animal Control will host a community open house and adopt-a-thon on Saturday, May 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Animal Control will use the occasion to provide tours of the temporary Placerville shelter and showcase its animals and programs.  The shelter is located at 511 Placerville Drive in Placerville next to the Flyer’s gas station.

The University of California Cooperative Extension of El Dorado County will offer a master gardener class on container gardening from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Bethell-Delfino Agriculture Building, 311 Fair Lane, Placerville.
