Citing revenue losses and increased costs, El Dorado Transit has announced higher local bus and paratransit fares effective April 6.
The new fare structure raises the basic one-way fare on community bus routes to $1.50 and the weekly Grizzly Flat route to $2.75, according to a news release. Seniors, people with disabilities and students through 12th grade will receive a 50 percent discount.
Transfers will be 25 cents, and the charge for route deviations for passengers registered under the Americans with Disabilities Act will be 50 cents.
The basic monthly pass will be $60, with discount monthly and student monthly passes $30.
The new fare structure will adjust fares for some passengers of Dial-A-Ride, a curb-to-curb, by-reservation service covering most of western El Dorado County.
A new one-way discounted fare of $1.25 for seniors and people with disabilities will be implemented on El Dorado Transit's Iron Point Connector, which provides service from El Dorado County to the Iron Point light-rail station in Folsom. Fare for the general public is $2.50 for one way.
