On October 21, the third annual poker tournament fundraiser will take place, and this year it’s pirate-themed. Texas Hold ‘em is the game, and dinner will be provided.

There will be a rib cook-off August 21, at Burke’s Junction, called the “Hoe-Down for Habitat.” This is the inaugural event in what is planned to be a yearly fundraiser.

Sequoia's General Manager, David Bagley, will give a live cooking demonstration on Fox 40 News tomorrow morning at 8:50am. He will demonstrate his recipe for Steak Diane. Bagley, a trained chef and wine expert, is experienced in broadcast media, having presented numerous food and beverage spots for Sacramento and Bay Area TV, including a cooking series, "Italian Cooking with David Bagley."

If any of you have an interest in knowing more about the historic background of El Dorado County, there is a short class being presented by Tom Mahach at the Light of the Hills church in Cameron Park from 1:30-3:30 Tuesday. Cost is $5 and open to the public.

El Dorado Center Patron’s Club scholarship luncheon will be held Friday, April 24, at 11:30am at Cold Springs Community Church. Proceeds from the luncheon provide student scholarships and other Center needs.

EDAC will the following briefings and updates:
1. Introducing Ron Grassi, El Dorado County's incoming Assistant Chief Administrative Officer, CAO Liaison to the reformulated EDAC.
2. El Dorado County sector analysis and econometric services briefing from Ryan Sharp, Director of the Sacramento Regional Research Institute (SRRI);

Over 35 foothill wineries will offer samples of their wines inside merchant locations on Historic Main Street in Placerville. In addition, the works of many local artists will be featured and the “Banners on Parade” community art project will be displayed with the banners to be auctioned for sale that evening. Music at The Bell Tower, art demonstrations & hors d’oeuvres, too.

This popular Placerville event will be hosted again by downtown merchants and will include a street closure for added enjoyment and safety for all patrons. Entertainment will feature several different bands up and down Main Street. If you are interested in sampling over 40 different micro-brews, tickets will need to be purchased for patrons over 21 years of age.
