El Dorado County Animal Control will host a community open house and
adopt-a-thon on Saturday, May 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Animal
Control will use the occasion to provide tours of the temporary Placerville
shelter and showcase its animals and programs. The shelter is located at
511 Placerville Drive in Placerville next to the Flyer’s gas station.
The open house will feature activities for the entire family, including:
- Morning kick off with coffee and refreshments
- Shelter tours and adoptions throughout the day
- Presentations, introductions and booths sponsored by several local animal welfare groups
- Dog training tips with shelter animals
- Book signing benefiting El Dorado County’s shelter program, “Pet Aid”. Sue Hegarty, author of “Barnaby and Thor” will sign books from 11:00 am- 2:00 pm. Books will be available for $15 ($5 directly benefits Pet Aid).
- Appearance by Placerville Police Department’s “Hank the Bloodhound”
- K-9 Demonstration with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department “Troy” and “Felix”
