South Lake Tahoe, CA. --Written public comment is now being sought for the Final Recommendation Package for the Lake Tahoe Capital projects and Science and Research themes being considered for funding under Round 8 of the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act (SNPLMA).

The final Primary list of projects and Science and Research themes can be viewed at www.fs.fed.us/r5/ltbmu/local/snplma/round-8/index.shtml.

The public is asked to comment on the final list for 30 days, beginning on April 28 and ending on May 28. Comments may be submitted by email to comments-pacificsouthwest-ltbmu@fs.fed.us, or by regular mail (must be received by close of business on May 28, 2007) to Arla Hains, 35 College Drive, South Lake Tahoe, CA, 96150.

The USDA Forest Service, Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit received Round 8 proposals for Tahoe expenditures authorized by the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act of 1998 (SNPLMA, Public Law 105-263) as amended by the Clark County Conservation of Public Land and Natural Resources Act of 2002 (Public Law 107-282). Round 8 Project Proposal packages were accepted November 20, 2006 through December 15, 2006.

Lake Tahoe projects considered for funding must meet the following minimum criteria:

1. Be the responsibility of the federal government in the Environmental Improvement Program (EIP); and
2. Have a willing and ready federal sponsor.

Selection Process

All proposals received will go though a selection process described in the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act Implementation Agreement, dated June 2006. Please select this link to view this 1.4 M PDF document: Implementation Agreement.

Individuals who do not submit a proposal but would like to be involved in the project review and recommendation process can provide feedback to the Lake Tahoe Federal Advisory Committee members and/or public comments can be made during a Lake Tahoe Federal Advisory Committee meeting.
